영어 입문/현재 진행

어떤 일이 지금 일어나거나 또는 계속되고 있는 상태를 나타내는 동사의 시제를 영어 문법에서 Present continuous 또는 Progressive라고 부른다. 한국어로 이를 '현재 진행' 또는 '현재 계속'이라고 번역할 수 있다. 그리고 어떤 일이 진행 또는 계속되는 상태는 다만 현재에 국한된 것이 아니라 과거 시제에도 적용된다. 영어의 진행 또는 계속의 시제는 세 가지가 있다.

1. 현재 진행: Present continuous
2. 과거 진행: Past continuous
3. 현재 완료 진행: Present perfect continuous

• 현재 진행을 나타내는 동사는 언제나 be 동사 + -ing의 형을 취한다.

   My sister is playing.

   The frying pan is on the stove.

   It's getting slow hot.

   What do you do now?

   I'm waiting for my girlfriend.

   He is a student at university.

   Where is he studying?

   Can you speak French?

   I'm beginning to forget my French.

   Would you give me back the book you borrowed?

   What are you talking about? What book?

   Are they working even this weekend?

   Yes, they have a lot to do.
