Dear Mr. Tylor,

You have asked me for an opinion on whether you could live with your cat in the current apartment. For the reasons set out below, I believe that you are entitled to keep a cat in the apartment you are living now. You will not, however, be able to have an additional pet.

Rule: Under the contract law of South Korea, the express intent of the contracting parties control. Definition: Intent is a determination to perform a particular act or to act in a particular manner for a specific reason. Application: Here, you entered into a one-year lease of Kunlidan Apartment with Ms. Kim, the land lady. Prior to signing the lease agreement, you discussed that the issue of keeping a pet in the apartment and you currently have a cat, Nabi. Ms. Kim, who raises two Labradors, asked to see Nabi and you showed Ms. Kim a photo of Nabi in your smartphone. Ms. Kim said Nabi was adorable and told you that Nabi could stay as long as you wanted. These exchanges clearly indicate that Ms. Kim and you had intended to have Nabi living in your apartment.

Conclusion: Accordingly, you are entitled to keep Nabi in your apartment as it was clearly the intent of Ms. Kim and you went signing the agreement.

I hope that this will be useful to you. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. I shall be happy to proceed on your behalf, if that is what you wish.

Yours very truly, Ultoni Atlo.
